Despite the "London" name, Stansted Airport is in Essex, about 38 miles north-east of central London, just off Junction 8 of the M11. From Hertfordshire it is typically 45 to 75 minutes by road depending on your start point: roughly 50 minutes from St Albans, an hour from Watford and 40 minutes from Stevenage via the A120.
