Five hotels sit within walking distance of the terminal, each about a 10-minute walk. The route follows the airport approach road, which is a decent, luggage-friendly path but is uncovered, so plenty of travellers still prefer a quick transfer for an early start or a wet morning.

A 10-minute walk sounds simple, but with two heavy cases, children, or a 4am departure in the rain along an uncovered road it is a lot less appealing. A fixed-price transfer covers the hop in a couple of minutes, dry and seated.
You cannot easily walk from the terminal to the Parkway hotels, but they are only minutes away on the Luton DART, the automated rail link between Luton Airport Parkway station and the terminal.

A little further from the terminal you will find some of the cheapest rooms, including the easyHotel Luton Airport, Travelodge Luton Airport and several independent and chain hotels around Luton town. These are not walkable and are not on the DART, so you will need a taxi or transfer either way, which is worth pricing in before you book on room rate alone.
The trade-off is simple: save a little on the room, then add a ride to the terminal. A fixed-price transfer from these hotels is quick and, split across a couple or a group, often cheaper than repeated DART tickets from further out.

For one or two people staying at a walkable or Parkway hotel in good weather, the walk or the DART is fine. The moment you add an early departure, heavy cases, children or a group, a door-to-terminal transfer is the calm, predictable choice, and because it is fixed-price there is no meter and the £9 terminal drop-off is already included in the fare.
