Free Drop-Off Alternative
Don't want to pay? Use the Long Stay car parks where drop-off is free. A complimentary shuttle bus runs to the terminals every 10-15 minutes. However, if you're in a rush, this adds 15-20 minutes to your journey.

🧴 Gatwick Security and Liquid Rules
Gatwick has been rolling out next-generation CT security scanners, and the hand-luggage rules have changed more than once recently. Always confirm the current rules on the official Gatwick Airport website or with your airline before you fly, because they can differ by terminal and change at short notice.
As things stand, plan around the standard liquid rule:
- 100ml limit: liquids, gels and pastes in containers of up to 100ml each.
- One clear bag: all containers must fit inside a single transparent resealable bag, roughly 20cm by 20cm, one bag per passenger.
- Larger bottles: anything over 100ml goes in your checked luggage, not your hand baggage.
- Exceptions: essential medicines and baby food are allowed above 100ml, but declare them at security and carry proof where you can.
Where the new scanners are fully switched on you can often leave liquids and laptops inside your bag, which speeds up the queue, but do not assume the 100ml container limit has been lifted. Fast Track security runs from around £5 per person and is worth it for early-morning departures when queues build quickly.
